Worcester DJ Spins for Rainbow
(Worcester, MA) Joseph Allen Tomlinson Presents Music By the Minute,
a 10-year veteran of the Worcester area party and social event scene,
will donate his renowned talents to Rainbow Child Development Center,
Inc. for its 3rd annual Signature Event on Friday, April 25, 2003, at
6:00 pm. Wachusett Country Club is the festive location for the night's
dinner, dancing, and live and silent auctions. This community-supported
springtime fête is the chief fundraising effort of Rainbow.
Mr. Tomlinson, a native of Auburn, prides himself on still enjoying
his work after ten years. As a youth he played in bands, always had
some equipment around, would play at friends' birthday parties, stubbornly
thinking to himself, "Someday I'll be a DJ." It was ultimately
the persistent encouragement of his fiancé that got him to "just
do it."
With an enormous, 600-CD collection of diverse music, Tomlinson performs
for public and private events all over Massachusetts, Rhode Island and
Connecticut.
Never relying on traditional advertising, his word-of-mouth promotion
keeps him consistently booked on a weekly basis. He's worked all types
of venues from backyard parties to the Publick House Historic Inn, Periwinkles,
Crown Plaza, and even the half-shell at Hampton Beach.
Tomlinson looks to regularly support his community whenever he can.
Currently a resident of Worcester, Tomlinson has donated his skills
to the Worcester Housing Authority, to DARE ("You should see 300
kids doing the Macarena!"), and the Junior Police Force in which
he is an inductee. During the administration of Mayor Mariano, Tomlinson
often contributed his time to city events.
"I'm excited about donating my work to Rainbow's upcoming Signature
Event. I really enjoy being on the floor, feeling the energy of the
room, and intuiting what the guests like to dance to. I call it 'mass-customizing.'
I learn what the masses want, and then I customize the musical selections
to fit. Sometimes it's the Chicken Dance . . . or the Hokey Pokey .
. . then something contemporary, or something classic. And, I also put
a mike out for the audience to use. There's always an Elvis or a Patsy
Cline in every crowd!"
Joseph Allen Tomlinson Presents Music by the Minute will surely keep
guests' toes tapping at the Rainbow Signature Event. In addition, there
will be a luscious live auction of tempting vacations, celebrity autographs,
spa treatments, and professional sporting events. Chris Doherty of Shea
& Poor will rally the furious bidding over these covetous items
and many more. Additionally, a wealth of silent auction lots will offer
up a variety for every pocketbook, including restaurant gift certificates,
fine arts and crafts, unique collectables, and a wide array of theme
gift baskets. Mother's Day is around the corner, and there will be plenty
of gift-giving ideas to inspire spouses and children alike (and don't
forget Father's Day soon thereafter!).
Rainbow invites you to come be a part of the fun, dance the night away,
and do some good simultaneously! Businesses, organizations, and individuals
are invited to reserve their very own group table for 8 at $300. Single
tickets are $40 pp. They go fast -- order yours soon at 508.791.6849.
Rainbow Child Development Center (www.rainbowcdc.com) is a licensed,
non-profit corporation that provides care, education, and therapeutic
