Rainbow
welcomes the following new staff to our programs: Tiffany
Sullivan, Secretary; Carmen Goden, Assistant Family Child Care Program
Coordinator; Melissa Ferrer, Family Child Care Provider; Marlene
Wakelin, Assistant Teacher, Preschool; Victoria Litvak, Assistant
Teacher, Preschool; and School Age Program Group Leaders: Angela
Balanca, Jasmin Bradford, Rosalyn Donikian and Beverly Eugene.
At the
Together For Kids (TFK) Coalition annual meeting on November
10, 2003, Barbara Guthrie was elected to a second term on the Coalition's
Steering Committee. Rainbow's preschool program will become an active
site in January for TFK services.
United
Way's Day of Caring on September 10th
was a busy day at Rainbow. Members of the Alexis de Tocqueville
Society and Davis Publications employees spent the day at Rainbow
sanding and staining our playground structure.
Rainbow staff members, Tracy Cartagena, Anna Nawrath, Anna Poulin
and Michael Wyne went to YOU, Inc. in Oxford to help paint and spruce
up their facility. It was a wonderful day of "sharing and caring."
Rainbow
thanks our parent, Laura Barchard (see article spotlighting
Laura), on her volunteer speaking engagements on behalf of our agency
for the current United Way campaign. This past summer Laura made
a presentation to United Way's "Leadership Giving" group.
That presentation has led to several other presentations at MA Electric,
Coughlin's and other locations. Thank you Laura for sharing your
wonderful success story.
In
January, Rainbow will be selling "Players Passes" for
the 2004 golf season. The Player's Pass, similar to a Diner's
Club or Entertainment
Card, allows recipients the opportunity to play on a minimum of
16 courses located in the New England-Metro West area with four,
2 for 1 golfing opportunities. Cost of the pass is $30.00. For an
additional $19.95, the membership gives participants the opportunity
to play at an additional 700 participating courses across the Country.
The passes will be sold by Rainbow from January through June, 2004.
While the passes will not be available until after the holiday season,
Rainbow will provide an informational certificate to anyone wishing
to purchase the passes for holiday gifts.
Rainbow contact person is Anna Poulin at 508- 791-6849 or apoulin@rainbowcdc.com
Through
the generosity of the members of the Greendale People's Church,
19 Rainbow families will receive food baskets for Thanksgiving.
Thank you!
Many
of our families this year have been in need of children's clothing.
We have had a number of people answer our call for clothing of all
sizes. Thank you Sarah Auciello Priest, Dorothy Tomlinson, Debbie
Almstrom, Judy Kenary, Catherine Reilly, Rosemarie Boyd and St.
Vincent de Paul for your generous donations. Our families are very
appreciative of your support. Rainbow's Preschool Program has recently
had its National Association for the Education of Young Children
(NAEYC) accreditation extended from three to five years. Congratulations!
