SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAM
Rainbow's Social Service Program provides many supportive services to the children and their families. The Center collaborates with a number of community agencies including Community Healthlink Youth and Family Services, MSPCC, Pernet Family Health Services and Worcester Children's Friend to provide on and off site therapy and counseling. In addition speech development therapy is offered to children in the Center's preschool program. As societal problems increase, the need for intervention and supportive services continue to rapidly grow.
The Center provides daily transportation services to over 70 children in all program areas through an outside contractor. In addition to providing transportation to children whose families are unable to transport their child to their program, the Center transports children from approximately 8 - 10 schools at the end of each school day to attend the school age program.
All full day programs provide healthy, nutritious breakfasts, lunches and snacks to the children each day. The preschool program has a cook located on site. Family child care providers prepare meals in their home each day for the children in their care. Meals are also provided to children in the school age program during full day programs. Snacks are provided after school.
The staff of Rainbow is thoroughly committed to providing quality education and care to meet the many needs of the population it serves. The Center has a long standing commitment and working relationship with other local child care agencies, area colleges and community service organizations to assist it in meeting the ever changing and challenging issues facing today's children. The Center plays an active role in the Worcester Community Partnership and has been an early participant in the planning and implementation of the "Together For Kids" (TFK) pilot project whose mission is to provide mental health services to children with behavioral problems and guidance to their families. Rainbow has been selected as one of the four pilot sites for the TFK program.
