PURPOSE & PROGRAMS

Rainbow Child Development Center is a licensed, non-profit child care agency working collaboratively within the community.

The focus of the Center is to provide learning within a supportive and safe environment that will allow children to develop and grow through participation and self-expression in order to meet their individual needs.

In addition to care and educational programs, therapeutic services are provided including early intervention for children up to the age of 3, speech development, play, individual and group therapy for preschool children and individual and group therapy for children enrolled in the school age program. The agency collaborates with a number of community agencies and is also supported by volunteers and interns from area secondary schools, colleges, and universities.

Family Child Care:  For infants and toddlers ranging from six weeks to two years and nine months.  The children are cared for private homes licensed by the State.  This program has 17 providers.  Each provider cares for four to six children daily, and meets continuing-education requirements.

 

Pre-School:             For preschoolers ranging from 2.9 to five years of age. The program is accredited by The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).  The curriculum is interactive and child-centered, offers each child the chance to explore and learn in a supportive environment.  This program has four preschool classrooms.

School Age:  For school age children between the ages of five and 13 years old.  This program has three locations:  Belmont Community School, City View School and at our Center at 10 Edward Street.  The program focuses on providing an enriched, stimulating curriculum with a heavy emphasis on homework and academic assistance during the after school hours and school vacation weeks.  In the summer the program is held at Mohegan Boy Scout Treasure Valley Reservation in Paxton and includes swimming and other traditional summer camp activities.

Social Service Program:  The Center collaborates with a number of community agencies to provide on and off site services.  This program provides many supportive services to the children and families including:  Early intervention services, Speech therapy, Assessments

Play therapy and Individual and group counseling

Collaborations: United Way of Central Massachusetts (UWCM), Together for Kids (TFK); Bureau of Nutrition (BON)


All full day programs provide the children with breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. 

Transportation is available for children whose families are unable to provide it.
