Children's Art for Rainbow

(Worcester, MA) Rainbow Child Development Center, Inc. of Worcester is hosting its 3rd annual Signature Event on Friday, April 25, 2003, at 6:00 pm. Wachusett Country Club is the festive location for the night's dinner, dancing, and live and silent auctions. This community-supported springtime fête is the chief fundraising effort of the Center.

The annual "signature" live auction item is an original painting created by Rainbow's preschool children under the guidance of resident artist/lead teacher Claudette Rosenbusch. For the past three years this collaborative effort has produced a charming, one-of-a-kind work of art that captures the spirit and imagination of Rainbow's youngsters.

Additionally, other live auction highlights will be:

a complete issue of Sports Illustrated magazine featuring New York Jets superstar Joe Namath, "Broadway Joe," on the cover. This January 20, 1969 edition is signed on the cover by the great "#12" all-star.

a Berkshire Mountains Getaway Weekend package will star lodging at the internationally renowned Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge. Two nights with breakfast in the antique-filled establishment will be accented with dining at acclaimed area restaurants, entertainment at theater and music halls, shopping at quaint stores, a visit to Kripalu Yoga Center, Norman Rockwell Museum passes, and finally, a third night's accommodations at the rustic mountain Race Brook Lodge.

Auctioneer extraordinaire Chris Doherty of Shea & Poor will rally the furious bidding over these covetous items and many more. Silent auction lots will offer up a variety for every pocketbook, including restaurant and spa gift certificates, fine arts and crafts, unique collectables, sporting events tickets, and a wide array of theme gift baskets. Mother's Day is around the corner, and there will be plenty of gift-giving ideas to inspire spouses and children alike (and don't forget Father's Day soon thereafter!).

Worcester's own Joseph Allen Tomlinson Presents Music by the Minute will supply fabulous dancing tunes, and will surely keep guests' toes tapping at the Rainbow Signature Event.

Rainbow Child Development Center (www.rainbowcdc.com) is a licensed, non-profit corporation that provides care, education, and therapeutic services to children -- ages 6 weeks to 13 years -- from families in the Worcester area. Located at 16 Laurel Street for over thirty years, Rainbow is currently finalizing negotiations to purchase the Edward Street School building, where programs and services will continue to grow and benefit the community's children.
