Holiday
Cheer at Rainbow
The
holidays are always a special, magical time for everyone. It is
a time of giving and a time of receiving. For many years, Rainbows
children have been the very fortunate recipients of holiday gifts
provided through the efforts of the Junior League of Worcester.
This year was no exception. The Junior League again provided gifts
for over 100 children. However, because our programs have grown
and we are serving many more children, the call went out for additional
gifts to ensure that all our children had a happy holiday. The community
responded many times over. Over 160 children at Rainbow received
several holiday gifts each from the Junior League of Worcester,
the Student Government Association of Becker College (both the Worcester
and Leicester campuses) and the parishioners of the Greendale Peoples
Church. In addition, 225 children at the Hubert Kindergarten Center
in Hudson shared their own special toy or book with our children
as well. And if that wasnt enough the Greendale Peoples
Church provided very generous food baskets to two of our families.
Special thanks also go to two employees of Allegro MicroSystems,
Inc. who made donations to Rainbow in lieu of exchanging gifts with
each other and to friend, Paul Lynskey, who provided paper and art
supplies to our programs for holiday projects. Our heartfelt thanks
to everyone who gave of themselves to make the holidays a special
time for our children and families.
New
Look at the Preschool
Thanks
to a capital grant provided by the George F. and Sybil H. Fuller
Foundation through the United Way of Central Massachusetts, Rainbow
has been awarded $5.000 to install an intercom security system at
the main entrance to our preschool. The security system will provide
an added level of safety to the children and staff by allowing the
school to remain locked throughout the day. A camera system has
been installed at the entrance. Visitors to the Center will be buzzed
in from one of three monitoring locations after they have been visually
identified. Parents will be given a color coded identification card
as well. We are grateful to United Way and the Fuller Foundation
for the funding to allow Rainbow to ensure the safety of the children
who attend our preschool.

Special
Thanks
Rainbow, and particularly our preschool children, want to give a
special thanks to John Jolin, Jolin Paving & Excavating Company,
for donating his and his employees time and materials to repave
an area of our new playground this Fall. Before John arrived the
area was virtually unusable due to the age and condition of the
black top area. Now, the children can ride tricycles, play ball,
and play safely on a smooth new surface. Thank you John for caring.
Have
An Old Car...
Do
you or a friend or relative have an old car that you arent
sure what to do with? Give it to charity and take a tax deduction!
It is a win, win situation for everyone. Linders, Inc. on 211 Granite
Street in Worcester has a Vehicle Charity Donation Program.
Linders will take old vehicles, provide the car donors with a receipt
for tax purposes and forward the donation to the charity of the
car donors choice. Rainbow was the recipient of 2 car donations
in December. Thanks to Jim Weed and Bob Ciulla! If you have any
questions about the program, contact Luann Laramee (508-521-8000)
at Linders, Inc.
